“Vers la Lumière”: l’exposition de Pieter Ceizer et Ivan Cremer se tiendra au L.A.C  //  du 1er juillet au 30 septembre 2023

In collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, the L.A.C. will host the typographer Ceizer and sculptor Cremer for a summer exhibition, promoting Dutch expatriate artists in France.

“Into the light” is a tribute to the South of France and the inspiration this region has given to legendary artists over the centuries. As Matisse, Signac, Cézanne and Van Gogh who came here fascinated by the spectacular landscapes, the generous climate and the abundance of light which gave the region an influential place in Modern Art. The founder of L.A.C., the Dutch painter Piet Moget, was fascinated by the region in the late 1960s and spent over fifty years of his life painting the reflection of water, sky and light. His minimalist paintings exude the serenity and power of nature. This became the primary inspiration for this exhibition.

Word and letter artist Pieter Ceizer interprets the theme “Into the Light” in a philosophical way with large paintings as “one-word poems” and abstract, colourful lettering compositions in metal or wood.Ivan Cremer embodies light in a more physical way with raw and dynamic materials. Linking the work of the earth with his “series of heads” to the myth of the Phoenix, and its eternal cycle of death and rebirth in the journey towards the light.

In parallel to this exhibition, the other spaces of the LAC will be occupied by an exhibition of Kees Visser (an abstract painter renowned for his work on colour), whose works can be found in prestigious institutions such as the MoMA in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
